Who needs a family chiropractor?
Who needs a family chiropractor depends upon how a person looks at managing their health. Most people go through life, expecting the best but preparing for the worst, and this is by far the best approach. They build a team of health care professionals around them which they use to monitor their health and deal with problems as they arise, before they turn into emergencies. In this way, they keep their health on track and avoid costly health care interventions. Most sensible people realize that they neither have the time or the expertise to take a do-it-yourself approach their own health.
Much of the problem with getting older has to do with loss of ability to do things and discomfort due to accumulated injuries, and the resultant onset of arthritis or joint inflammation. Also, many of these problems start early in life and develop as a slow process with age. If there was a way to prevent this, then people's lives would be greatly improved. Well it turns out that there is a way!
By monitoring and maintaining the body's normal structure and movement up through life, the amount of wear and tear on the body's joints may be minimized, preventing much of the ongoing discomfort associated with aging. One good example of this would be the degenerative hip problems that many people face, in many cases because nobody has been monitoring the state of their hips over the years.
In addition, if not corrected, problems in body structure may cause pain and disability during times when the body changes rapidly, as in pregnancy, growth spurts and weight change. Also, undetected problems in body structure can predispose people to injury at work, and this can result in income loss and disability.
In any case, I believe that it is fairly apparent, that periodic examination by a chiropractor is not only sensible but quite necessary, in order to detect and prevent structural health problems throughout life.
In essence, I believe that, besides being important to self educate oneself in heathy living, I certainly recommend having a chiropractor as part of your family's health maintenance team. Chiropractors are highly trained in structure related disease and can definitely be an asset, if used properly to maximize your health and quality of life.
